Tuscany’s children attraction
So you’re planning a trip to Tuscany and you’re wondering just how thrilled the kids are going to be when you get there. No need to panic – we’ve narrowed things down to a few delightful places you can take them. The Boboli Gardens in Florence are a definite must for people of all ages, and that includes the kids. They’re huge for starters, which means your young ones have plenty of space to run around and explore for themselves. It’s a great place for the whole family to explore and if you take a picnic with you, so much the better.
If you happen to be visiting Siena you could always try the bell tower. This has two advantages – the climb to the top will puff out the kids, and you get great views too. Be sure to take your camera to make the most of the climb and the reward at the end of it!
Elsewhere Pistoia Zoo is a great day out for the family, with lots for the young ones to see and do. The zoo is home to all kinds of creatures from tigers to rabbits and penguins to flamingos. It’s a great learning experience and the kids won’t even realise they are learning anything at all – they’ll be having too good a time for that.
The Pinocchio Park is surely also not to be missed, and for more than its name too. This includes an amusement park with rides that are specifically aimed at young children for the most part. There are usually special events going on at various times of the year too, so check out the opportunities to get involved before you go.
As a slight contrast to the traditional zoo offering, Tuscany is also home to a so-called European Fauna Park. This is near Poppi and the park has a wide range of animals your kids can see, including bears, porcupines and even lynx. You can take along a picnic to keep costs down or choose to head for the restaurant on-site if you wish.
Finally, if you are anywhere near Grossetto make sure you take the kids to the beach there. This is a great beach but you also have the opportunity to hire some bicycles for the day. There are some charming bike rides in the immediate area and it gives the children something else to do instead of walking everywhere. We’ve merely touched the surface here, but as you can see there are countless possibilities available in Tuscany.
