Best advice to travel in Puglia with kids
Puglia is a delightful part of Italy to visit, that’s for sure. However, any holiday can be far from refreshing when you have kids to think about too. If you’re heading to Puglia you do have some great opportunities to keep them occupied though. Take the many great beaches there for example, including Gallipoli and Polignano. But you can indulge in plenty more experiences beyond sandcastles and the sea too. These are our best advices to travel in Puglia with kids:
The Indiana Park in Castellana Grotte should be top of your list for wearing out the kids. Children from the age of two are focused on here, all the way up to the adults. With rope bridges, slides, beams, nets and plenty more to challenge every member of the family, you’d be crazy to miss it. You might find it hard making just the one visit though.
For a different kind of experience, why not take the kids to Alberobello? This is the charming town famed for its Trulli – the houses with conical roofs that look simply stunning. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it has the capacity to teach kids about the construction techniques used here that date back to prehistoric times.
Elsewhere you can try something more modern by visiting the Splash Acquapark in Gallipoli (handy if you’re already visiting the beach there). It boasts water slides, waterfalls and even a watercourse if you’re all up for something different. The great rides will keep the kids happy all day, and of course, you will probably enjoy taking a dip too.
Another change of pace can be enjoyed if you decide to visit Grotte di Castellana. These grottoes are famous as one of the leading attractions in this part of Italy. There are two separate tours you can choose from. The longer one would probably be more suitable for older children since it involves a 3km walk, but the shorter one is completed in 50 minutes and is a third of the distance. Mind you, when they see some of the sights the grottoes have to offer and learn more about their history, your kids might marvel at every moment.
Finally, for a truly versatile day out, make sure you don’t miss the Zoo Safari. This includes a safari park, Fasanolandia (an amusement park complete with rides), a metro-zoo and also a sea lion aquarium. As such it offers real value for money which is always a good thing when you’re paying for a day out with the kids.
