Palermo Airport in Sicily “Falcone & Borsellino”
Palermo airport is also known as Falcone-Borsellino is located in an area known as Punta Raisi about 35 km from Palermo, the capital city of Sicily and is one of the busiest southern airports in Italy. The airport can get quite busy in the summer months when additional direct flights to the island are added to accommodate the high season demand. Eurofly offers direct service from JFK to Palermo between July and October, Delta and Alitalia offer connecting service through Milan. If you fly from Dublin or London, you can catch a Ryanair flight direct to the island.
Airport facilities, shops and restaurants
Palermo Airport has a limited shopping area on the second level of the terminal; you can also find a self-service restaurant as well as bars.
Baggage – There are two Lost and Found facilities at the airport, one serving Alitalia tel: +39(0)917 020 208 passengers, and the other for all other passengers tel: +39(0)917 020 209
Money – There is a bank located on the terminal ground floor and two cash dispensers (one for foreign exchange) in the arrivals hall — a post office located on the first floor. A bank, open 08:30-13:00 and 14:45-19:15 and 14:45-19:15, 24/7 two ATM’s in the Arrivals Hall.
Information – In the Arrivals Hall there is a service kiosk for general airport and flight information and hotel reservations.
Business – On the first level of the terminal there are two VIP lounges, one for Alitalia passengers and one for passengers of other airline companies tel: +39(0)917 020 629
Disabled facilities – Palermo airport is very accessible for wheelchair users, and there are adapted elevators and restrooms. The Sala Amica Lounge Tel: +39 0 917 020 630 has special services for the disabled.
Transportation from the airport
Getting to and from Palermo airport is simple, and many choices are vary depending on your budget.
Travelling by taxi is the quickest way, although you should expect to spend between € 50.00 – € 70.00 for your fare, we suggest you try and settle on fare price before starting your journey and make sure the driver understand your destination.
Train service to and from the airport will pick you and drop you off at the Central, Notarbartolo and Francia stations; service regularly runs throughout the day as an average of two trains per hour. Train fare is about € 8.00.
Another popular option is public buses (Prestia e Comande, +39 (0) 915 804 57. We recommend popping into the Information desk to help you match a bus route to your hotel or other accommodation. Buses leave every 30 minutes from the Central station (journey about 55 minutes) and stop at the Politeamo (travel about 40 minutes), providing multiple opportunities for other connections; bus fare is about € 6.00. The first bus leaves the airport at 6.30 am, and the first bus from Palermo di the airport is at 5.00 am
